JUNE ANGELA is an American actress and has been performing since age 5. She received both Broadway’s Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations as Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her starring role as Mariko in SHOGUN. She received an Emmy Award and a Grammy Award for her work on the worldwide TV series THE ELECTRIC COMPANY with Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno. Numerous starring TV roles in dramas and comedy include FRESH OFF THE BOAT, DEXTER, ER, recurring roles on MAD-TV and being a regular on 3 series including MR.T & TINA with Pat Morita. June holds the distinction of making the youngest soprano debut with the NYC Opera – at age 10 – as Flora in Benjamin Britten’s THE TURN OF THE SCREW and has also sung at Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Metropolitan Opera House. Numerous theater credits include Tuptim in the Broadway & London Palladium Revival of THE KING & I with Yul Brynner and starring in many world premieres including the Off-Broadway acclaimed epic CAMBODIA AGONISTES and SAYONARA. She also starred in works at Lincoln Center, Public Theater – New York Shakespeare Festival, Kennedy Center, Pasadena Playhouse, East West Players and the Berkshires. Animation and voiceover work includes Disney’s critically acclaimed, Miyazaki animated film KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE for which she also is co-writer of the Main Title song, THE REAL ADVENTURES OF JONNY QUEST, BAMBI, and ALADDIN.
