Shawn Wong is an award-winning author who wrote HOMEBASE and AMERICAN KNEES, which was adapted into a film titled “Americanese” in 2012. Wong has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship and a Rockefeller Foundation residency in Italy. Wong was also featured in the 1997 PBS documentary, “Shattering the Silences” and in the Bill Moyers’ PBS documentary, “Becoming American: The Chinese Experience,” in 2003. He is currently an English professor at the University of Washington, where he has served as Director of the Creative Writing Program, and Chair of the Department of English. Wong received his undergraduate degree in English from UC Berkeley and a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.
