Both of the Kens come from evangelical (conservative) Christian upbringings and careers. But in the latter stages of their respective journeys, both began to question long-held beliefs and also found it impossible to ignore their own and the Church’s blatant hypocrisies. Today, they find themselves in the more progressive wing on most things, and have experienced various degrees of backlash and ostracization. But they experienced deconstruction while being married, which definitely added layers of complexity and affected the pace of their journeys.
